Wine cellar of Rosca
All wines are produced in a winery that has family in the village of Galafura center. The parent of this winery was built in 1917 by risk management and Antonio Ayres de Mattos ( 1879-1956) , father of the current owners , a property with 3,5 hectares of vines on the ruins of an old and small cellar which had acquired to " the Thread ", nickname of its owner then certainly due to his excessive taste and abuse of wine. Therefore , the cellar was always known for the CELLAR THREAD.
Underwent major refurbishment in 1966 with the installation of fermentation vats armed with autovinificadores (Algerian type), built on the ancient granite mills located there, built in 1926 Concrete .
Extended in 1990 with a new adjoining building to meet the growing needs of bottled wines .
It has a storage capacity of 1,000 barrels .
The white grapes Syria Rabigato , Malvasia Fina , Gouveio or Verdelho and Arinto are transported in plastic boxes of 25Kg , to prevent its maceration for the route in order to prevent oxidation . Are just crushed the next day to get some cooling , while we do not have a cold chamber.
The grapes of Touriga Nacional , Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz , Tinta Francisca , Tinta Amarela , Moorish and Bastardo are also transported in plastic boxes of 25Kg .
White wine is usually done in an open spout , although sometimes a small part is done with tanning half, with fermentation in stainless steel vats at controlled temperature.
Currently the varietal wine are made of pneumatic fermentation and reassembly stainless steel vats also temperature controlled .
The fortified wines of the year are stored in this cellar of the thread and then selected and transferred to aging in wooden casks of brown , avinhados in the cellars on the ground floor of the residential dwelling Coimbra de Mattos , the House of Sidewalk family.
The wines of pasture (table) whites do a short internship in stainless steel vats and a small part corresponding to half wine dressing makes this stage in new oak barrels .
